Planet9 is a new-generation e-sports social platform launched by Acer in 2019. The platform is dedicated to online gamers looking to advance their skills and unlock their full potential.
The name “Planet9” was inspired by a mysterious interstellar legend– a theorized super-Earth-sized planet orbiting the outer regions of the Solar System. The name brought to life the idea of building an extraterrestrial online community and training grounds. But first, the gaming community’s newest planet needed a solid brand foundation. We aimed to create a logo and visual identity to tell a story that would rally the gaming community and ignite the fire in their souls.
Our approach
The mouse is a vital tool for gamers to connect with the world. Every click, every movement brings gamers closer together and holds the key to what makes or breaks a game.
The logo, composed of the letter “P” and the number “9,” is both a symbol and a word mark. Together, the characters create the shape of a computer mouse—suggesting the pro-gamer’s most powerful weapon. The outline of the logo projects strength, with hard, sharp edges reminiscent of armor. The logo’s colors stay true to Planet9’s mother brand, Predator, while the gradient treatment over a dark background provides the mysterious aura of a formidable online contender. The visual identity system combined with interstellar imagery creates an energizing and visionary atmosphere both online and in the physical world.
