Michael Birkin

Michael began his marketing career as CEO of brand consultancy Interbrand, after working first for PriceWaterhouseCoopers and then being the assistant to Sir Mark Weinberg at Allied Dunbar. He was the CEO of Interbrand from 1987 until 1995 and took a leading role in the development of the concept of brand valuation while also building the company from one with few employees to a multi-location, global firm.

After Omnicom Group acquired Interbrand as part of its Diversified Agency Services (DAS) unit in 1993, Michael joined the holding company and quickly rose up through the organization. He was named European managing director of DAS in 1995, followed by DAS International president in 1997, then Worldwide President in 1999. Five years later he took the newly created role of President and CEO of Omnicom Asia Pacific, where he focused on building Omnicom’s overall presence in the region. Through his leadership and the success of his key initiatives, Asia became the fastest-growing region for Omnicom at that time. When Michael stepped down in 2009, he was Vice Chairman of Omnicom Group and CEO of Omnicom Asia Pacific.

In 2009 Michael returned to his entrepreneurial roots by founding Red Peak Group, comprised of Red Peak Branding, a New York City-based strategic branding and design firm, and Infrared, an events company. In 2012, although retaining his position of Chairman of Red Peak Group, he took his first-ever client side role as CMO of Acer, the Taiwanese personal computer company. Under his leadership, Acer shifted its focus from manufacturing to consumer insights-driven product development and marketing. Although continuing to this day as a close consultant to Acer, he left his full time position there in June 2014 prior to starting kyu in July 2014, following the acquisition of Red Peak Group by HDY.

Michael is a graduate of University College, London, where he studied law. He lives in New York City.

Silvia Yu
Chief Executive Officer

Strategic, creative, and with an eye for innovation, Silvia has more than 20 years of experience in global marketing and brand transformation. She is an accomplished professional with a track record of creating global integrated marketing / branding campaigns, leading to increased market share, brand awareness, revenue, and value. She is also capable of directing cross-functional and technical teams throughout the full product life cycle.

In 2014, Silvia established RedPeak Asia with Michael Birkin. RedPeak is an agile, young, dynamic, creative and multi-national team that specializes in branding, product marketing, and GTM strategies serving B2B and B2C markets across multiple industries. Over a span of 7+ years, RedPeak has leveraged creativity and brand consulting to assist brands like Acer, MediaTek, Compal, The North Face, Giant, Okuma, and many successful start-ups with numerous award-winning projects that revolve around branding and engaging Millennials and young Gen Zs around the world.

Chris Chung
Creative Director

Chris spent his childhood in South Africa before moving on to live and work in London. He specializes in several different fields of art and delights in scrutinizing every little detail of urban life. His expertise includes graphic design, typography, illustration, brand identity, retail design, advertising, and packaging.

Chris is now the Creative Director at RedPeak. He has worked on brands as diverse as Acer, SmartTaipei, Giant, Mediatek, Okuma, Johnson, Ford, Mazda, Pepsi, Johnnie Walker, McDonald’s, Carrefour, Epson, Lux, and more.

Raychard Huang
Creative Intelligence Officer

Raychard is a branding and strategy professional who loves helping people and companies become their best selves. With experience across various industries, including AIoT, blockchain, and sustainability, he brings a diverse and interdisciplinary perspective to the table. He’s all about establishing new brands, developing go-to-market strategies, and effectively communicating complex technologies and businesses to the right audience. Before joining RedPeak, Raychard was a key player in the DKSH, a Swiss holding company specializing in Market Expansion Services, helping European companies expand to Asia and even starting a few internal businesses of his own.

Lea Chien
Business Development Manager

Lea began her branding and marketing journey during her time at the National Taiwan University, before embarking on a career in event planning and PR consulting at Edelman. She is experienced in building brand communication strategies for tech industry clients ranging from start-ups to established global corporations and is inspired by Design Thinking and motivated by RedPeak’s belief in the power of creativity.

Since 2019, Lea has led and participated in several meaningful projects, including defining retail experiences, hosting creative workshops, and building interactive online global press conferences. In addition to her work in market research, branding strategy, and product go-to-market strategy, she has collaborated with designers and programmers to bring innovative ideas to life.

 

 

 

 

 

Stacey Yu
Senior Designer

Stacey is a multidisciplinary visual communicator with a passion for creating innovative visuals that convey ideas and values for brands she works for. She has a background in graphic design, editorial layout, and information design, and enjoys exploring different approaches to communication through her creativity. In 2017, Stacey moved to London to broaden her horizons and cultivate her skills, where she studied graphic communication design at Central Saint Martins. Through her experiences in various cultures, Stacey has developed a unique perspective that she brings to her work.

Jasmine Hung
Strategist

Jasmine is an enthusiastic branding and marketing professional with a passion for innovative businesses and lifestyles. She developed her interests in these areas while studying at National Chengchi University and gained hands-on experience through marketing projects. Jasmine also has a background in e-commerce, with skills in digital marketing, campaign marketing, and project management. She believes that a solid brand foundation is crucial for successful marketing campaigns and is driven by her desire to create connections between brands and markets. With a deep connection to her hometown of Taipei, Jasmine is committed to helping Taiwanese businesses shine on the global stage and make a positive impact on society.
